A lot has been going on around River of Life over the last few weeks. We are refocusing our efforts to mobilize and equip church members to “Live, Love, and Serve.” We have a lot of things planned for 2009 and have been asking everyone to step up to the plate and do their part. Part of the process has been a restructuring that you may not have noticed yet, but will be hearing more and more about in the days ahead. That is we are restructuring the church’s ministry to utilize volunteer teams for ministry rather than depending on paid staff members and a small group of people to do the work of ministry at River of Life.
We’ve already begun this process in the area of student ministry. In case you haven’t noticed, a lot of good things are happening in Resonate right now and a lot more people are involved. We’ve gone from a small group of people leading an often frustrating ministry to a team of people that are excited and motivated to make a difference in the lives of some great teenagers. And here’s the kicker – River of Life doesn’t have a youth pastor! That’s right – Justin Paschal is now in charge of creative ministry. That means he spends his days developing our web presence, static graphics, and video, not just for the main worship services, but for all of the ministries in the church as well! But by mobilizing an excited and qualified team of volunteers, we have never seen more excitement in Resonate Student Ministry! The bottom line – team ministry works! (Was that enough exclamation points?)
So where else are we forming teams? We have already begun the team-building process for Victory Way Children’s Ministry. If you are looking for a place to make a big difference in someone’s life – this is it! But if children’s ministry is not your thing, no problem! We are developing a facilities team to help care for cleaning and maintenance, and our Impact Media Team needs camera and computer operators, sound crew, video production assistants, and lighting operators. But wait! We’re not done yet. What about our childcare team (Nursery and Sonbeams). Or if you love to do fundraisers – why not participate in a fundraising team that supports children’s and student ministry?
More information will be coming about the team ministry concept. Not all teams have been formed yet, but here are a few people you can talk to if you are interested in being a part of one of our existing teams:
