River of Life had a powerful service on Sunday, July 4, at the Pathway Campground in Benton. ”Freedom” was the key word of the day as Pastor Ben delivered a dual message about the freedoms we enjoy in our country and the freedom we have spiritually through the love of Jesus. The chapel was literally jumping with energy as the praise team and worship leader Becky Arguello led the congregation in worship.
Immediately following the service barbecue brisket and a hoard of side dishes and desserts awaited in the nearby cafeteria. Fellowship during lunch was tremendous as the church members reaffirmed their status as “family” among the congregation and in the family of God.
After lunch, seven people were baptized and/or rededicated their lives to God in the camp’s swimming pool as Pastor Ben conducted the service, proclaiming that “change” has been the message from the Holy Spirit through several services.
Following the baptisms, children and adults alike enjoyed the pool, cooling off from the hot summer afternoon. The adults acted a lot like children themselves as they engaged in a friendly game of keep away with a soccer ball. Cindy Pulley, a regular Wednesday night visitor to the church, offered her services as lifeguard for the afternoon.
We’re planning another opportunity to visit the campground and spend the afternoon swimming and enjoying spending time with church family. Be listening for details!
