River of Life Hosts Project Backpack Fundraiser

chickfila_1The Chick Fil-A Restaurant  was filled to capacity Thursday, July 29, as ROL members and other participants proved they were hungry to help out Project Backpack.

The restaurant graciously donated 20 percent of its proceeds, upon presentation of a coupon, for the evening for Project Backpack. This came to $257 with another $48.45 was placed in the donation jar. This fund raiser comes on the heels of a similar one done at On the Border, which raised over $140.

Members of the youth team stood outside the restaurant along Central Ave. and in the drive-through with signs encouraging patrons to help out with Project Backpack. Inside the store, Allison Pierce greeted customers and gave them the coupon they needed to present with their order, which was stapled to tickets and tallied up at the end of the evening.chickfila_2

Numerous church members showed up at 5 p.m., when the program began, and the restaurant was quickly packed with other patrons, supporting the project.
