On Sunday, Aug. 1, River of Life Church members enjoyed a fun meal to raise money for Project Backpack with the “Just Kidding Extravaganza” luncheon held at the church after services.

Members and guests selected a particular food item from the menu, and the price beside it was the amount that person agreed to donate to the project. The “just kidding” part came into play with the diners all being served the same thing – spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread, a drink and sticky buns for dessert. Hot dogs were also served as well for the youngsters who preferred that food.

The food was served by members of Resonate Student Ministry, and the seats were soon filled as a great time of camaraderie was enjoyed by all – all the while serving a good cause.

A special thanks goes to Olive Garden, which donated several pans of spaghetti to help offset costs. A thanks also to Keith Brey who made the trip to Olive Garden.

Over $600 was raised in this endeavor as final preparations will be made this week for Project Backpack Day on Saturday.
