Day 20: Got Answers?

Day 20: Got Answers?

But as for me, my prayer to you, O Lord, at an acceptable time; O God, in the greatness of your lovingkindness, Answer me with your saving truth. (Psalm 69:13)

How many times have we heard the old saying that “timing is everything?” This is especially true with God’s timing and the things He has planned for our lives.

We have prayers that we have prayed but haven’t seen an answer to and wonder if God has heard us. We have dreams and desires in our hearts that we want to see come to pass and wonder if they ever will. We have the same old struggles in our lives that we wonder if we’ll ever quit battling.

God’s answer to all of these things come in His timing. He wants to give us answers. He wants to give us the desires of our hearts. He wants to bring us to a place of victory but He also wants us to be ready when it happens.

In an instant society where we tap our foot at the microwave or get angry if we have wait in the drive-thru for more than three minutes, we don’t do well with waiting. Funny thing is that God is very patient. He loves to wait.

It is in the waiting that we find out about His love for us, character is developed, our hearts are exposed, faith is built, we learn to hear His voice, and growth in Him takes place. Although these are not the things that make goose bumps run up and down your spine – these are the best things.

Only the Lord knows when the “acceptable” time is but rest assured that He does want to answer us, fulfill us and deliver us. His timing is perfect and that is what He is doing in our lives – perfecting all of the things that concern us. Just wait – we will see Him do mighty things in our lives – in His time.

Lord, forgive us for demanding that You do things for us on our timetable. Help us to allow You to work in our lives to make us ready for Your plans. Your timing is perfect. We will wait for You to answer us with truth that brings salvation in every situation. Thank you for not answering us when we haven’t been ready. Thank you for loving us enough to say – Yes, No or Wait. We will obey you – we will wait.
