Project Overflow 2009

Project Overflow 2009

On June 7, 2009, River of Life Church set out to be a blessing to the people of Hot Springs.  This project was birthed from prayer and planning of three men – Pastor Ben, Pastor Bobby, and Steve Chadick.  As these men began to pray and seek the Lord the excitement started to well up inside them at the thought of going out into the city on a Sunday morning when the Church is supposed to be inside buildings having church as we always do. 97980009What we do on Sunday morning is vital – we need the fellowship, worship, and the Word – but Project Overflow made a statement about the importance of being the Church instead of just doing church.

Gen 12:3b “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

After a brief worship service, River of Life sent teams of people out to the community to do ministry. Some of the teams were sent to knock on doors just to ask “Can I pray with you?” The people were very receptive to the offer. One person had just received a bad report about a family member and asked the team to pray with her, another needed prayer for pain in their body and the pain left immediately.  Other teams were giving out small bags of food and praying with people on the east side of Hot Springs.  These teams found people that were lonely and needing to know that someone cared for them.  98080018Another team went to laundromats to hand out quarters and spend time talking and praying with people.  Another  team went to Hill Wheatley Park and picked up trash and cut weeds to make the park a little better than they found it and to give back to the city.  Resonate Youth spent time downtown walking around giving away free hugs.  They also played music and worshiped the Lord at Arlington Lawn.

This was a truly wonderful time of service for River of Life Church and an opportunity to live out our faith before the community.  Special thanks go out to all of our team leaders for their willingness to serve. They caught the vision and made it happen! Be looking for more Project Overflow opportunities as River of Life Church “lives, loves, and serves” in Hot Springs!
